About

The peated expression in Nagahama Distillery's Amahagan World Malt range. Blends domestic Nagahama malt with peated Scottish malt to create an accessible smoky whisky. Distinct from the "Atomizer Heavily Peated" which dials the smoke up significantly further.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Campfire smoke, maritime salt, and sweet malt. Beneath the peat there's honey and citrus peel.

Palate

Balanced smoke and sweetness. Medicinal peat layered with vanilla, toasted barley, and a hint of dark chocolate. The Nagahama malt adds a gentle, round quality that tempers the peat.

Finish

Long and warming with lingering smoke, a touch of brine, and a sweet cereal fade.

What People Are Saying

Well received by fans of the Amahagan range looking for a smokier option. Multiple reviewers recommend it as a gateway to peated whisky thanks to the balanced approach.

Solid peated world malt from Nagahama. Not as aggressive as the Atomizer Heavily Peated, which makes it more versatile. Good balance between the Nagahama house sweetness and imported peated malt.

How to Enjoy

Best neat or with a splash of water to open up the peat and reveal the underlying sweetness. Also excellent in a smoky highball.
