A Kagoshima based shochu maker that pivoted to whisky with the opening of the Kanosuke Distillery in 2017 on the coast of the East China Sea. Kanosuke has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most promising new Japanese distilleries. Their three pot stills of different sizes allow experimentation with spirit character. Early releases have shown impressive quality for such a young operation, and the distillery's beachfront location provides unique maritime aging conditions. Watch this space as their whisky matures.
