Ohtani Inc., originally a personal seal (hanko) manufacturer, launched the Niigata Kameda Distillery in 2020. Located in Niigata prefecture, the distillery aims to create a distinctly Niigata terroir whisky using local barley, Forsyths pot stills, and aging warehouses spread across the prefecture from mountains to coast. Their new make has won recognition at the World Whiskies Awards.
