Shizuoka Prologue W
シングルモルト日本ウイスキー 静岡 プロローグW
About
The second single malt release from Shizuoka Distillery, distilled exclusively on the legendary W still: the world's only wood fired pot still. Three years in first fill bourbon barrels and new American oak, with a cask strength 55.5% ABV. Only 5,000 bottles were produced for the Japanese market.
Tasting Notes
Warm woodsmoke, charred oak, and ripe fruit with underlying malt sweetness. A gentle peatiness mingles with vanilla and a hint of citrus.
Full bodied for its age, with layers of toasted grain, gentle smoke, stone fruit, and a waxy malt character. The wood fire distillation gives a distinctive richness and weight.
Long and warming with lingering smoke, oak spice, and a clean malty sweetness that fades slowly.
